2013 Melbourne to Warrnambool | 12 Oct
The Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic is an iconic Victorian sporting event which is the second oldest one day cycling event in the world and the longest in the Southern hemisphere.
The race, which over the years has faced many challenges and has been conducted over various routes to meet ever evolving safety requirements, is attracting more competitors than ever with a record 233 contesting the gruelling 260 kilometre event in 2012.
Over its 117 year history of the event hundreds of volunteers, Warrnambool and surrounding businesses, service groups, and the media have all contributed with great passion to ensure the Classic continues to be a prestigious cycling event that riders take great pride in entering, completing, and for a few, winning.
The Warrnambool Citizens Road Race Committee is the custodian of the event and, after 17 years of promotion and race direction by Caribou Publications, has passed over operational responsiblity to Cycling Australia's Commercial and Event team. It is now a new chapter in the story of the Melbourne to Warrnambool, one of the true monuments of Australian cycling.
Race consists of a graded mass start road race. NRS registered riders, B Grade, C Grade and D Grade.
Early registrations will take place at Cycling Victoria, DISC, from 10am - 6pm on Friday October 11.
On-the-day registrations will be held at the registration tent, at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre from 5.30am - 7.30am, Saturday October 12.
